Sustainability Portal - UNIL, IMD and EPFL develop a platform bringing together sustainability stakeholders

Officially inaugurated on 12 September 2023, the Sustainability Portal's mission is to encourage and simplify networking between sustainability stakeholders at the three partner institutions: UNIL, the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and EPFL.

It is a unique platform offering a global perspective on research, innovation and student groups involved in sustainability. It is also an access point for societal stakeholders, such as the media, politicians and industry representatives, seeking specific expertise. The ambition is to strengthen synergies and collaborations in order to respond effectively to current environmental and societal challenges. The aim is to accelerate the ecological transition.

Designed to be modular and informative, the Portal offers a map and a list that can be filtered according to search needs. There are already more than 330 profiles, and new members can be added all the time. Profiles can be updated as new projects or initiatives are developed, careers evolve, and much more.

Aiming to be as inclusive as possible, the Portal covers a wide range of topics inspired by the Doughnut economic model, from economics to social standards, not forgetting biodiversity, energy, and climate. The common vision of sustainability shared by the three institutions means that many areas of study can be brought to the fore and interdisciplinarity promoted.

Working in silos on sustainability or climate change leads to solutions that are too limited in scope and too slow in pace. We need more systemic approaches, not just scientific and technical but also social, capable of speeding up the transition. The best way to do this is to bring these three institutions together

This project was conceived thanks to the joint efforts of CLIMACT, the Enterprise for Society Center (E4S), UNIL's Competence Center in Sustainability (CCD), IMD, the Vice-Presidency for Responsible Transformation (VPT), Vice-Presidency for Innovation and Vice-Presidency for Academic Affairs (VPA) of EPFL.
